CHRISTMAS CONCERT

One more year we could enjoy the Christmas concert. All the students worked very hard for this day. They learned and sang four English songs: We are the world, What a wonderful world, White Christmas and Twinkle twinkle little star. They did an excel·lent job. Congratulations for your performance and see you next year!

Un any més vam poder gaudir del concert de Nadal. Tots els estudiants van treballar molt dur per aquest dia. Van aprendre i cantar quatre cançons en Anglès: We are the world, What a wonderful world, White Christmas i Twinkle twinkle little star. Van fer un paper excel·lent. Felicitats per la vostra actuació i fins l'any vinent!

HOW TO MAKE A CHRISTMAS CRACKER

Marisol ens ensenya tots els crackers que vam fer a sisè.


Christmas crackers are a part of Christmas celebrations in the United Kingdom. To make a cracker you need:
  • A piece of Christmas wrapping paper.
  • A toilet roll tube.
  • Curling ribbon. (If possible buy a “snap” to put the crack into your cracker.)
  • Scotch tape.
  • Scissors.
  • Gifts (Sweets, little toys...)

Els crackers Nadalencs formen part de les celebracions nadalenques al Regne Unit. Per fer un cracker necessites:

  • Paper de regal.
  • Un tub de cartró de paper higiènic.
  • Cinta de regal. (Si és possible pots comprar una petita tira explosiva per a col·locar a l'interior del teu cracker.)
  • Cinta adhesiva.
  • Tisores.
  • Regalets (Caramels, joguines petites, confetti...)

PICTURES AND INFORMATION FROM

1.Roll the wrapping paper around
the toilet roll tube.

2.Fasten the paper tube with the tape.

3.Scrunch the paper together in the gap between the two pieces of tubing.

4.Now place the chosen gifts inside the open end of the cracker.

5.Remove the hard tube from the end of the cracker and insert it into the other end. Repeat the process of pulling together the other end of the cracker with ribbon. Use the knife or scissors to curl the ribbons.

THANKSGIVING


Happy Thanksgiving!
American Thanksgiving is celebrated on the 4th Thursday of November. This year Thanksgiving fell on Thursday November 22, 2007. The custom of celebrating Thanksgiving, an annual celebration, began around 1621 when the Pilgrims fulfilled a successful and bountiful harvest in the New World.
A Native American named Squanto showed the pilgrims how to plant corn, where and how to catch fish, and how to find food in the forest.
The pilgrims invited the Wampanoags to a three-day feast. Pilgrims made meat pies, soups, and cornbread and boiled fish, clams, and lobsters. The Native American brought corn, venison, and wild turkeys.
This celebration is also known as Turkey Day.

Feliç Dia d'Acció de Gràcies!
El Dia d'Acció de Gràcies se celebra el quart dijous de novembre. Aquest any va caure en 22 de novembre de 2007.
La tradició de celebrar Acció de Gràcies, una celebració anual, va iniciar-se al voltant de l'any 1621, quan els peregrins van aconseguir una rica collita al Nou Món (Amèrica).
Un Americà nadiu del poble dels Wampanoags, anomenat Squanto, va ensenyar els peregrins a conrear blat de moro; on i com agafar peix; i com trobar menjar al bosc.
Els peregrins invitaren el poble dels Wampanoags a un festí de tres dies. Els peregrins van cuinar pastissos de carn, sopa i pa de blat de moro; van bullir peix, cloïsses i llagostes. Els nadius Americans portaren carn de cérvol i gall d’indi salvatge.
Aquesta celebració també és coneguda com el Dia del Gall d’Indi.

HALLOWEEN


Last October 31, lots of people from English speaking countries celebrated Halloween. At our school we talked about Halloween tradition and 5th and 6th grade students dressed up like monsters. We also made a big picture with some monsters in it. Can you recognize any of those monsters? They are really scary. Click on the image to enlarge it.


El passat 31 d'octubre, molta gent de països de parla anglesa van celebrar Halloween. A la nostra escola vam explicar la tradició de Halloween i els alumnes de 5è i 6è van disfressar-se de monstres. També vam realitzar un mural amb monstres en ell. Pots reconèixer algun dels monstres del mural? Fan molta por. Clica a sobre de la imatge per ampliar-la.

CHRISTMAS SONGS


Next month we will celebrate Christmas and as every year Octavio Paz students will sing some songs in English. This year we have chosen four beautiful tunes.
The little ones will sing "Twinkle, twinkle little star"; 1st and 2nd grade will sing "White Christmas"; Cicle Mitjà will sing "What a wonderful World"; and, finally, 5th and 6th grade will sing "We are the world". Here you can find all four songs so you can practice at home. Enjoy!

El proper mes celebrem el Nadal i com cada any els alumnes d'Octavio Paz cantaran algunes cançons en Anglès. Aquest any hem escollit quatre belles melodies.
Els més petits cantaran "Twinkle, twinkle little star"; 1r i 2n cantaran "White Christmas"; Cicle Mitjà cantarà
"What a wonderful World" ; i 5è i 6è cantaran "We are the world". Aquí teniu totes quatre cançons perquè pogueu practicar a casa. Gaudiu!
